An interactive preview with sample activities. Try stopping the timer or exploring the Log.
A small habit. A clearer picture.
Choose a project, name what you’re doing, and press Start. Your log and reports help you make sense of the work afterward.
Your history stays yours
Track locally without an account or a connection. If you turn on sync, your activities are encrypted on your Mac before they leave it. The sync service can’t read your activity history.
On your Mac
Edit the description. The server’s copy changes, and stays unreadable.

One history for the whole team
Join a team and shared activities sync into everyone’s log, marked with who did the work. It’s still end-to-end encrypted: your team can read it, the service can’t.

From a to-do to time well spent
One swipe from the timer is a notepad, split into sections by project. Start a timer straight from a to-do. When you stop, Tokify asks whether it’s done. Try it.

Is Tokify free?
Yes. Tokify is completely free and open source under the GPL-3.0 license. There are no paid tiers, trials, or upsells.
Does Tokify need an account?
Not for tracking on your own Mac. You install Tokify and start tracking immediately, with no sign-up. An account is only needed if you turn on end-to-end encrypted sync or join a team.
Does Tokify track my screen or apps automatically?
No. You choose what you are working on and start a timer. Tokify records those activities; it does not monitor your screen, apps, or websites.
Where is my data stored?
On your Mac, in a local SQLite database at ~/.tock.db. Nothing leaves your machine unless you turn on sync, and you can export your whole history at any time. If you used an earlier version, your ~/.tock.txt log is imported the first time Tokify opens and the original file is kept as a backup.
Does Tokify work offline?
Yes. Tokify is fully functional offline. Sync is optional and only used if you turn it on.
Can I export my data?
Yes. You can export your history to CSV, JSON, or plain text, scoped by date range or project.
Is Tokify open source?
Yes. Tokify is open source under GPL-3.0 and developed in the open. You can read the code, file an issue, or send a patch on GitHub.
Is Tokify end-to-end encrypted?
Yes. When you turn on sync, activities are encrypted on your device before they leave it. The sync service never sees what you or your team worked on.
Does Tokify support teams?
Yes. Team members work from the same shared activity history: activities sync to every user on the team, while end-to-end encryption keeps that history private from the sync service.
Can I use Tokify on other devices?
The current release is for macOS 11 and later, on Apple silicon and Intel Macs. Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android versions are in development for 1.0. They are not available to download yet.
How do I install Tokify?
Download the latest macOS release from GitHub, unzip it, and move Tokify.app to Applications. A terminal installer is also available. Current releases are unsigned; see the installation guide for details before installing.
Make room for the work.
No account, no trial, no credit card. Open the app and press Start.
